Heat Pumps
Heat pump repair, installation, and gas-to-electric conversions. One system that heats and cools, sized and installed for East Bay homes.
What it is
A heat pump is an air conditioner that can also run in reverse to heat your home. In the mild East Bay climate, a properly sized heat pump can handle both heating and cooling for most homes.
Heat pumps come in ducted versions that connect to your existing ductwork and ductless versions (mini-splits) for homes or rooms without ducts. Some homes keep a gas furnace as backup in a dual-fuel setup.
Signs you need it
- You are replacing an AC, a furnace, or both
- You want cooling in a home that only has heat
- You are planning to move away from gas appliances
- Your existing heat pump is not heating or cooling properly
- You are building an ADU or addition and need efficient heating and cooling
How a visit works
The same steps every time, so you know exactly what to expect.
- Step 1
Arrival notice
We text or call when the technician is on the way, so you are not waiting around wondering.
- Step 2
ID at the door
Your technician introduces themselves by name and shows company ID before coming in.
- Step 3
Shoe covers on
Shoe covers go on at the door, and drop cloths go down where we work.
- Step 4
Diagnosis, explained
We show you what we found, with photos when it helps, in plain language.
- Step 5
Written options first
You get written options with prices before any work begins. Repair and replacement side by side when both make sense.
- Step 6
Nothing without your OK
No work starts until you approve it. Declining is fine, and there is no pressure.
For this kind of visit
- Heat pump installations often depend on your electrical panel's capacity. We check it at the estimate visit and tell you if an upgrade is needed. Panel and electrical work is done by a licensed electrician.
- We size the system with a load calculation for your home, not a rule of thumb.
What it costs
Every system is different, so we don't quote prices over the phone. A technician looks at your system and gives you an exact, written price before any work starts. If you decide not to go ahead, that's your call.
Replacing equipment? Ask about rebates and financing.
